Vivint technician

May - September 2020 • Pasco, WA

What I liked

I loved working with all sorts of different people and houses. The job is fairly flexible while it will also keep you very busy.

What I wish was different

The down-time and being busy is a double-edged sword where you are on call most of the time. The job requires a lot of traveling as well.

Advice

The more you seek to be busy and proactive, the more money you can potentially make. I worked my butt off the years I worked here and was rewarded handsomely for it.

Sales Rep

May - July 2020 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

You can make as much money as a door-to-door sales rep as you choose to. The more/harder you work, the ore you make.

What I wish was different

Going door to door during COVID sucked. George Floyd also put everyone on edge. Very poor training Management was unhelpful in my progression as an employee

Advice

Sales is hard, but you learn people skills, dealing with rejection, and work ethic very quickly.

Mobile Apps Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The work atmosphere at Vivint was phenomenal. Leadership was welcoming and extremely helpful, and I felt like a full time member of the team within my first few days. The Summer League Internship program was well organized and allowed me to interact with coworkers beyond my immediate team, along with bringing me to the company headquarters in Lehi, Utah multiple times throughout the summer.

What I wish was different

The only complaint I have is the hour and a half commute I had every day to and from work. That being said, Vivint was extremely flexible with work hours and did provide me the option to utilize a housing stipend to live close by. Overall I have no complaints with the experience.

Advice

Be very proactive and take on as many roles as you can. I was given multiple opportunities to perform different jobs within the team beyond programming, like running scrum ceremonies. Take advantage of every opportunity to make new connections and be open to all kinds of tasks.

Sales Representative

April 2019 • Kennesaw, GA

What I liked

This job is extremely difficult. I repeat, EXTREMELY difficult and it is not for everybody. Because it's sales, there is a very steep learning curve before you begin making money. That being said I found the challenge is what kept me engaged and I learned more through this job than I have from any of my past internships combined. I also made over $20k in commission in just 3 months in the summer. I don't know any other type of job where you can make this much money and get this good of an experience in college.

What I wish was different

I wish I had studied the sales material more, I probably could have made a lot more money than I did.

Advice

If you are going to work this job, COMMIT. Study your sales material every day and trust your manager. They are there to help you succeed.

Smart home security sales representative

May 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

I was paid weekly based only on how much you sold. The pay was commissions based making anywhere from 300 to 1000 dollars per sale and an unlimited amount of sales per day. The travel was free. We were refunded the money spent on stay. You form bonds with coworkers. You learn how to invest. You learn how to negotiate. You learn your limits and how to grow past them.

What I wish was different

It will be annoying to do things on your own if you don’t bring a car.

Advice

It will change your perspective on life. When I came to USF in 2018, I had no form of income. Vivint provided the necessary training, tools, and support to succeed in sales and understanding yourself on a more in-depth level. They will teach you how to understand a situation and move past obstacles such as objections and excuses. They will hire anyone willing to work and put in the effort to make some sales even if it means a couple teers. I no longer need to work a nine to five work schedule as Vivint can pay ten thousand to five hundred thousand within 4 months of work compared to an adult making forty thousand annually spending four times the amount of hours. Vivint can direct someone to take control of their lives within a matter of weeks or months if they desire to grow as a person.
