June 2018 • Kampala, Uganda

What I liked

The leadership and great working ethic. They really care for our spirituality. They avail many opportunities.

What I wish was different

Not much

Advice

It's a great place to be and they will give you opportunities to serve in different areas so that you get different experiences and to find out what you really want or what works best for you.

Camp Crew Counselor

May - August 2019 • Schroon, NY

What I liked

I really liked my time counselling 9 high school boys during a 9 week span while serving the Lord in boating transportation at Word of Life Island.

What I wish was different

I wish more people would come and volunteer or raise support to help out at Word of Life camps, it is harder on everyone when there is a smaller number in help at a camp.

Advice

Go in with an open mind, meaning don't set high expectations when you plan on serving the Lord, because from personal experience, just take each day 1 day at a time and trust God upon that time.

Evangelism Intern

June - August 2019 • Pottersville, NY

What I liked

I learned how to share the Gospel effectively with people in many different locations! We traveled to New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and other places.

What I wish was different

I wish that it would have lasted longer. Also, I wish that I would have had more alone time with the Lord, as I began to burnout toward the end.

Advice

Sharing the Gospel should be an everyday thing for believers. While sharing about Jesus from day-to-day will look different each time, we can take advantage of the opportunities that the Lord has given us to share wherever we go.

Cross Cultural Intern

April 2018 - December 2019 • Managua, Managua Department

What I liked

The cross-cultural experience is invaluable. Being a member of a Nicaraguan team changed my perspective, my attitude, and my life.

What I wish was different

The communication at times was hard to navigate but was doubly difficult because of the language and cultural differences.

Advice

Before any sort of mission work, you need to know that it is what God called you to. If God is your guide, anything is possible.

Marketing and Photography

January 2016 - October 2019 • Ericeira, Lisboa Region

What I liked

The cultural challenge and learning the language. Using my skills that I am studying to get my degree in. I was able to receive lots of experience!

What I wish was different

I would have been plugged in using my skills right away.

Advice

If the opportunity arises to travel across the world, take it! Learn all that you can while you are there, the hard difficult things and the fun easy sunshiney things together!

What I liked

I loved pouring into young girl’s lives and being a crazy, cool, counselor!

More free time on weekends. By the end of the summer the whole staff was so tired it was hard to work effectively.
