Wisconsin Farmers Union

Water Education Intern

May - August 2019 • Chippewa Falls, WI

What I liked

I greatly enjoyed having the ability to create and implement a watershed curriculum for hundreds of students. There was a lot of flexibility for the activities I wanted to include and optimizing the experience for the youth that came to our camp. I was able to use previously-gained knowledge as well as research to create educational posters for the public on the benefits wetlands provide, and how to protect their local watershed.

What I wish was different

I was able to participate in two large outreach events, but do wish there had been more opportunities to work with general public education on watersheds.

Advice

Working with the youth is very rewarding and the more passionate you are, the more excited they will become about what you're teaching them.
