Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo & Safari

Animal Care Intern

May - September 2021 • Minocqua, WI

What I liked

I loved the hands on experience! The learning opportunities were not lacking at this internship. Whenever we asked questions, they would be answered, and we were given a lot of information about what it is like to run the zoo as well, including policies and rules.

What I wish was different

I wish that there would have been more staff available, so that the interns could focus on the animals more than the guests.

Advice

My advice is to be prepared for the work you need to put in. It was a fun experience but it takes up a lot of time, and is hard on your body some days. You work in all weather.

Animal Care Intern

June - September 2019 • Minocqua, WI

What I liked

Great hands-on experience with exotic animals. Learning about the animals and giving presentations was a great opportunity to expand knowledge on interesting animals.

What I wish was different

Very hard labor. Working long hours with minimal pay, but great experience.

Advice

If you like farm work and willing to wake up early to do cleaning/ chores for the animals, this job is for you. This is a physical oriented job.
