Weill Cornell Imaging at NewYork-Presbyterian

Patient Coordinator

December 2021 - May 2022 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Absolutely nothing.

What I wish was different

Everything..... From management to employees. The department I worked for mainly hired women only due to it being an imaging center for mammograms and ultrasounds which makes sense but the employees were very nasty to one another and I personally experienced being discriminated against by the other employees. One of my coworkers whose been there for 15+ years had the same title as I did and she thought she ran the place. She even went as far as to scream at me during my shift at the front desk. Management and higher-ups were alerted asap but did nothing to reprimand her at all. And on top of all that the patient coordinators would get 30 min lunches when we were promised the full hour.

Advice

Weill Cornell has no regard for their employees. During the first 6 months of employment, you are on probation which I get is normal for the job to do, but you are not allowed a sick day or anything. They do not care about your mental health and will without any regard make your life a living hell. It is completely mismanaged.

Medical intern

What I liked

Weill Cornell DiversifiED Virtual Summer Apprenticeship As a apprentice, I was assigned an Emergency Doctor as my mentor who I developed a great relationship. I was able to communicate with her and discuss many things. The program also gave us very meaningful lectures which was run by the doctors of the ED. Everything was completely virtual which made everything flexible.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

Keep in touch with your mentor and take all advice from what was shared between the mentor as well as the coordinators of the lectures.
