Marketing and graphic design intern

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I loved this job, I was able to get hands on experience in my future career. In a lot of ways it didn’t seem like I was an intern, I was treated and valued like a full time employee. I gained experience working as a team, as well as on my own. I was treated like I was a part of the marketing team, I was given company design projects that I was able to put in my portfolio at the end of the summer. I felt valued both as a designer & as a person at this job.

What I wish was different

Nothing. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Advice

Get to know your coworkers. You are working as a team and they are there to help you succeed! Don’t be afraid to ask questions or come to others for help. At the end of the summer my coworkers had become some of my good friends.

Talent Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I was able to do a variety of things for them and experiment with different HR tasks. They were really good at tailoring the internship experience to me and my career goals. They were passionate about making the summer successful for me.

What I wish was different

I wish that there would have been more full-time opportunities so I could go back and work with them.

Advice

Be proactive. Decide what you want to contribute to the company and what difference you want to make. Then communicate those goals with your manager and welcome the help from them to accomplish those goals.

EE Intern

May - August 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

It was a great, fun environment. The team was great to work with, and the project we were given was something significant to the company, which made me feel like I was a real contributor.

What I wish was different

We had a "rotating leader" where we each took turns as the team lead, but none of us really did anything differently as a team lead, so it wasn't a meaningful title.

Advice

Enjoy it! Wavetronix is a great place to work.

Software Developer Intern

May - August 2018 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the things I learned while working here. Our team was all interns and our manager was really friendly. We did a lot of team building activities and they held a lot of classes about coding skills that we got to pick the topcis of so they we're really interesting and I learned a lot.

Advice

I would definitely recommend doing an internship every chance you get especially if you are unsure if you want to continue with the CS major. The work experience is extremely valuable and you generally make money too.
