It was paid hourly and not as a stipend.

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to meet the new Washburn Students and help them through their first college experience. Additionally, the team I worked with was fantastic and we all grew very close through our positions.

Being a SOC is a rewarding experience that helps you network with new students and help them achieve academic success. Impacting others in a positive light is what I love most about it.

I chose this position for the experience and because I knew it was going to be rewarding. I would have never thought of how rewarding it truly could be, if you are a people person and love helping others this is a position for you!

Promotions Management Intern

What I liked

The connections I’m making are so beneficial. I am learning how to raise money by planning events. I’m also getting the opportunity to create content for the events like talking points, flyers, photography, etc.

What I wish was different

I spend a lot of time working for the athletics department and although it is a great experience I wish it was paid. Even minimum wage just to make paying rent not quite as stressful.

Advice

Just do your best with every opportunity given to you. You will be able to use that for your resume and people will speak highly of you if asked.
