About Wallowa Resources

Wallowa Resources empowers rural communities to create healthy landscapes and strong economies through land stewardship, education, and job creation. We call this model the Stewardship Economy, an economy shaped by the need, and responsibility, to manage for the sustainability of both land and communities. We are committed to providing local jobs to families, using science to guide natural resource management decisions, educating the next generation of environmental stewards, and facilitating collaboration between private and public partners to implement on the ground projects. Our current programming includes public and private forest management, rangeland management, riparian restoration, youth education, renewable and sustainable energy, and rural economic development.

Wallowa Resources is nationally recognized for its leadership and on-the-ground results in land stewardship, watershed restoration and education. https://www.wallowaresources.org/

Community Solutions Inc Intern

June 2019 - August 2019 Enterprise, OR
“Wallowa County has a small population (around 7000), so the community is closely-knit. The networks between the different organizations in the county and with residents, many of whom are farmers and ranchers, are rich with potential and actual collaboration. In my internship, I enjoyed shadowing various staff of Wallowa Resources in addition to the district water manager, and I enjoyed field work such as measuring the flow rate of streams. I also appreciated having my own independent projects to work on at the office -- I gathered data on the energy use of the county and wrote a survey on soil health management.”
