GM Financial

Data Science & Machine Learning Intern

May - August 2021 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

I really liked how included I was in the Data Science team and how everyone was willing to help me succeed in my role. It felt very easy to ask questions to my managers and I also got a lot of freedom on the project I worked on which I enjoyed.

What I wish was different

I wish things would have progressed a little bit faster during the internship. In the beginning, a lot of time was taken away to training and just general planning which I think could have been shortened so there was more time to work on the actual project.

Advice

A piece of advice is to not be shy to ask questions and ask for help. Everyone there wants to help you and asking questions is a great way to get to know the people you're working it and complete your project in a more efficient manner.

commercial vehicle lending intern

June - August 2017 • Irving, TX

What I liked

Very flexible with summer events going on. Offered many opportunites that were to help build you professionally and to meet the other interns at different locations. They made the events exciting and really knew how to get the interns involved.

What I wish was different

I wish that the application process would have allowed for you to be placed in a position that was more relevant to your degree. Many of the students were in positions that they had no experience in or weren't studying and therefore were very uncomfortable in their roles.

Advice

Just push yourself out of your comfort zone.
