Sales and Consulting Intern

What I liked

There was a sales competition and a lot of opportunity for networking at the company. I enjoyed getting hands on experience. There are also two conferences you get to travel to which are a great learning moment.

What I wish was different

I did not like the office culture. It's largely remote, so it was hard to connect with people working there. I also found that my intern cohort did not get along particularly well due to a range in academic experiences and work styles.

What I liked

LOVED this experience! It was 9 weeks and I got to travel to Chicago for a week, went to Idaho to meet clients, and I went to Glendale to compete in an intern sales competition. I met so many people at Gallagher and also got to spend the day at an insurance company. Everyone in the Bellevue and Seattle offices were amazing and I learned so much. The projects I did actually made an impact and I were used in presentations. Best learning experience I've ever had, and now I know that I want to be in the industry!

What I wish was different

The pay was on the lower end, and while I got many great experiences and they definitely spent additional money on us, the low pay is going to be a barrier to entry for many students.

What I liked

I absolutely loved the Gallagher sales internship program! The culture of this company is amazing, and you learn so many new skills in just a short 9 weeks. This program helped me with my overall confidence, public speaking, and learning all things sales.

What I wish was different

I was an RPS intern where I rotated through divisions every 2 weeks. I loved each rotation, but I wish I had a longer time in each.

Advice

This was the most beneficial and influential experience I have had in my professional career thus far. I recommend this internship for anyone who wants to pursue a sales career. You will get a hands-on learning experience that will teach you what it would be like to be in a sales role in future.

What I liked

I enjoyed the people I worked with, company culture, and the job itself. Also, enjoyed the performance based environment and being able to provide answers to questions. My boss also was a phenomenal mentor and very professional; his insight and teaching made me a better professional/employe

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to really learn and understand the job. Unfortunately, I was only there for one quarterly earnings report so i wasn't able to get the whole corporate finance scope and the way the current market is going, I would've loved to see how those factors would affect the company's stock and the global market.

Advice

Invest in relationships with bosses and coworkers. That is the determining factor on wether your internship is a positive or negative experience. Money does matter but the company culture, people you work with are bigger factors.

What I liked

I liked the dynamic aspect of this job. Everyday, we were able to get out of the office and meet real clients. We traveled for national intern sales challenges and learned a ton. It was a really great experience.

Advice

Be ready to learn, no matter what you are doing! When you enter the corporate world, it's all about learning. Try to absorb as much information as you can!

It was a very interactive internship where we got to network with other companies and higher up employees in the company. We got to go to client meetings and actively learn about the business.

Gallagher is an amazing company with unique opportunities for interns. During the second week, interns across all of North America get together for a week long training at their headquarters in Chicago, IL! Everyone I worked with and networked with were amazing, sweet, and always wanting to give a helping hand in any way, including their executives!

Insurance isn’t everyone’s initial career thought, but Gallagher makes you want to make it your only career thought!

Wish I had gotten more formal training, particularly in sales and relevant topics for entering a career in insurance brokerage
