About Sapidyne Instruments, Inc.

What is Sapidyne Instruments?

Sapidyne Instruments Inc. was founded in 1995 by Tom Glass and Steve Lackie to manufacture and market instruments based on their patented Kinetic Exclusion Assay (KinExA®) technology. The name Sapidyne was derived from Sapid, which is Latin for pleasing to the mind while dyne is Greek for power or force. Therefore, Sapidyne means an intellectually pleasing power or force.

Early instruments were placed at research labs such as Xavier University, the United States Army, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Their work helped to showcase the advantages of KinExA technology. Through this early work and the many collaborations since, KinExA technology has become a popular tool for measuring binding interactions in most of the top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, along with many universities and research labs.

Sapidyne is now operating worldwide, headquartered in Boise, Idaho. The company is still run by its founders who continue to pursue their interest in developing better measurement tools for scientists. Even though the company has grown significantly, there is still an emphasis on both supporting and learning from our customers resulting in a spiral of ever improving measurements and understanding of binding.
