What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed working with fellow creatives in an office setting. My supervisor quickly became my mentor. I also was able to travel between the headquarters in Chicago with daily stipends!

What I wish was different

Clearer lines of communication. I had two bosses in different states so that became confusing at times.

Advice

Go in open minded - each day presents new challenges and blessings.

What I liked

PSAV welcomed me with open arms. I wasn't "just an intern" there - they listened to my thoughts, ideas and recommendations. They valued my opinions from a fresh perspective that allowed me to positively make an impact.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't change anything about my experience.

Advice

I made an effort to connect with as many people as I could. I highly recommend asking anyone from management to the C-suite executives for 30 minutes of their time to learn from their experiences. Personally I love asking "If you could go back to your 20 year old self, what advice would you give yourself?" They love this question and you will receive some amazing tips to become successful.

Accounting Intern

What I liked

I loved my experience at PSAV. The ladies in charge of the internship program made strong efforts to make our time at the company enjoyable, planning many activities and chances to meet with the executive team. My supervisors were fantastic at guiding me in my tasks but also giving me the freedom to explore and learn on my own. I never once felt like they were simply giving me busy work.

What I wish was different

There were a few times that my supervisors had to be out of the office, which was out of their control, but there were a few times that I would've liked more time to ask them questions.

Advice

I made an effort to meet with as many people as possible, and it definitely made an impact on my experience at the company. It gave me an opportunity to help others in multiple sections of the accounting department when I had downtime and it gave me a more well rounded internship experience overall. Networking was a very big part of my internship and I would recommend prioritizing networking.

Corporate Tax Intern

What I liked

I loved the team that I worked with. PSAV can promote diversity all they want because they are truly a diverse company. It was fun and challenging working daily with people from different countries.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to be on the team during a busier time. The summer is not super eventful in the tax world, so there were many little duties for me to do. They were all still relevant and learning experiences, but if I would have been able during a busier time, I would have gotten much more exposure.
