About JEA

JEA is located in Jacksonville, Florida, where we proudly serve an estimated 455,000 electric, 337,000 water and 261,000 sewer customers.
Northeast Florida’s Not-For-Profit, Community-Owned Utility

JEA is not owned by investors. It was created by the City of Jacksonville to serve those who live here and in the surrounding communities. The sole purpose of our business is to ensure the electric, water and sewer demands of our customers are met, both today and for generations to come. Our goal is to provide reliable services at the best value to our customers while ensuring our areas’ precious natural resources are protected.

Approximately half of JEA’s electric revenues come from its residential customers, the other half from our 50,000 commercial and industrial customers. The commercial and industrial market segments also account for about one-third of the water and wastewater revenue.

Summer Co-Op Intern

May 2019 - August 2019 Jacksonville, FL
“I was truly excited to explore a career for my major that I did not consider prior to and now this is something I want to do after receiving my Bachelor's! I loved the unpredictability with the Incident Response team. As an Environmental Science major, assessing different situations in the community, having a true impact on the environment and the people surrounding, is powerful. I also loved how my supervisors allowed me to work in other areas I was interested in including the Biology Lab. For the second half of the program I worked with Environmental Permitting and Compliance. I gained so much knowledge about the importance of this department. I also drove a boat on the St. Johns River! I earned my Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification as well. My overall experience at JEA opened my eyes completely. I never knew I could learn that much material, gain that much experience, and connect with that many people in 12 weeks. ”
